On the Island of cypress “trees” is a small island situated in the Lake Pusiano,a few km from the lake of Como, clearly visible from the shore of Pusiano and Eupilio. In the past has been inhabited, among others, by the viceroy of Italy Eugene de Beauharnais.
Being a small natural hill, in the medieval period it was fortified. Within the island, there is the only home, a villa, owned by Gerolamo Gavazzi, which, being lover of animals, has rinfoltito fauna also with animals from other continents.
The Island of Cypress is a small island in an oval shape that is located inside the Lake Pusiano. It owes its name to the presence of about 130 cypress trees, some of which are centuries old.
Today, the entire surface is owned by a family from Milan that still lives and for its maintenance.
The island is open to the public, and can be reached by boat departing from the pier of Bosisio Parini and Pusiano.
The family over the years it has proved to be a great passion for animals, and in addition to having contributed to the repopulation of the fauna of the lake with herons, peacocks, swans, has constituted a sort of small private zoo on the island, in which stands a group of wallabies (kangaroo).
