Autumn Holidays on Lake Como
October has finally arrived, taking the summer away, but I have to say it has been quite kind: the air has become cooler, but the sun is still shining warmly and allowing for some nice outings.
The autumn foliage has returned to decorate the beautiful slopes of Lake Como and I am happy with the season that is coming to an end with all its ups and downs.
But the first November holiday is near, are you already thinking about where to go? I have an idea...
Lake Como has so much to offer even in autumn, and if a dip in the pool at the Residence is starting to be more of a trial of courage than a cool cuddle, the views and colours that this season can offer are worth the trip.
If you have visited in summer but never in autumn, the gardens of the villas will amaze you with their warm colours. Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi, Villa Monastero change their clothes and you will find them as you have never seen them before.
A maybe little-known but very suggestive park in autumn is the Teresio Olivelli in Tremezzina, with monumental staircases, fountains and a majestic view of the lake. If you feel like walking and enjoying a wider panorama, starting from the park you can easily reach by foot the Rogaro plain, formed by an expanse of green meadows ready to welcome you with your blankets if you want to organise a picnic.
If, on the other hand after visiting the park you just feel like putting your legs under the table, the fifth edition of the Rassegna Gastronomica Selvatica will be helf from 16th October to 27th November. In participating restaurants, you will be able to find autumn menus with typical products from the Lake Como area and its valleys.
