Hello everyone!
Here at il Giardino di Lory, summer is getting closer and closer, the jasmines are ready to bloom, and the sunshine is getting warmer.
Are you already dreaming of your holiday on Lake Como? I recommend adding a boat trip to your itinerary. The destinations that can be reached by lake are numerous, and I promise you that seeing the shores of Lake Como from its waters is a sight that will leave you open-mouthed.
There are three water public transport services on Lake Como: hydrofoil, boat and ferry. Timetables are available at the reception or by consulting the white book just outside where you can find lots of useful information about villas, museums, and sporting activities. Timetables are also available at the infopoints in Gravedona and Domaso, where you can also find bus timetables, useful if you don't want to use your car. Bear in mind, however, that at the moment there is no bus to the Residence: the nearest bus stop is in Domaso along the Regina road.
From the Residence you can reach the harbour in Domaso by car and leave it in the car parks at the beginning, the centre and the end of the village, or on foot following the mule track for 20/30 minutes. Once at the port you can buy tickets there. The ticket office usually opens 20 minutes before each departure and the price varies according to the means of transport you choose to buy: for the hydrofoil a supplement is necessary as it is a fast service.
From Domaso you can reach not only the other North Lake Como villages such as Colico, Gravedona, Dongo, Piona, Musso, Pianello, Dervio and Bellano, but also the more popular destinations such as Varenna, Menaggio, Tremezzo and Bellagio. In addition, the route continues to Como, also reaching intermediate towns on the Como branch such as Argegno, Nesso, Torno and Moltrasio. To reach Lecco, however, it is necessary to make a change at Bellagio.
An alternative for visiting towns like Bellagio is to reach the port of Cadenabbia by car or bus (Line C10) and take one of the numerous ferries departing. For Varenna, on the other hand, it is better to drive to Menaggio and proceed in the same way. If you need to reach these destinations by car, there are ferries departing from Cadenabbia and Menaggio that allow you to embark by car. In any case, I advise you against reaching Varenna and Bellagio by car because - especially in Bellagio - there are not many parking spaces available.
For more information, you can find me, as always, at reception, ready to explain everything you need.
See you soon!
