What to do at Christmas on Lake Como?
Would you like to fully enjoy the magic of Christmas on Lake Como?
Lake Como is not just a summer destination! In winter, the snow-capped peaks adorn the shores of Como and Lecco transforming them into a nativity scene that lights up at sunset, blending with the colours of the sky.
Need another reason to join us? Well... how about the Christmas markets?
Christmas-themed events are numerous throughout Lake Como at this time of year, and they are always a great way to spend light-hearted weekends before the holidays.
In Colico, on the weekends until 1st January, you can find from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Paride Carboni Park numerous stands with various articles; strolling through the centre you can also enjoy the illuminations that adorn the town, with their reflections on the water they are truly marvellous.
In Gravedona, on the other hand, there are numerous events taking place during the month of December, not to be missed on Christmas Eve is the arrival of Santa Claus aboard a Lucia, a typical Larian rowing boat, at 3 p.m. on the lakefront. Also in this town, you can discover no less than 31 cribs set up along the Percorso Presepi (Christmas Crib Route) throughout the municipality and neighbouring hamlets, a great way to stroll through the historic alleyways of the village.
Further south, along the Como branch, we come to a special town, a town that appears in this period and then disappears for a whole year...the Città dei Balocchi! I have already told you about it in another article, but this time the location is different: it is not held in Como but in Cernobbio. The markets are in the park of Villa Erba, but throughout the village you can enjoy truly amazing light installations.
Before Cernobbio, however, there is Brienno, a small, perched village that seems to have emerged directly from the waters of the lake, which decorates its picturesque alleys and docks directly on the lake with lights and stands. You cannot miss this labyrinth of stairways and arched vaults, amidst the handicraft products of the best local producers.
A very special initiative will be held in the pearl of Lake Como, "Bellagio Meravigliosa", with light installations and tales of the area at every corner of the town.
Christmas is just around the corner and here on Lake Como we are all set to celebrate it, all that's missing is you!
