Hello everyone!
Do you remember my villa tour that started a while ago? It continues today! My staff girls and I took a day off to visit a little jewel of Lake Como: the gardens of Villa Melzi in Bellagio.
Once we arrived in the wonderful village, we explored its cobbled streets and enjoyed the colourful glimpses of the lake, looked in the shop windows of handicraft shops like the one of my friend Sonia (you can find the link of the dedicated blog here https://www.residencelakecomo.com/10155-blog-Lake-Como-s-Jewels-by-Sonia-Ambrosi) and took crazy selfies!
After an (unmissable) aperitif on the lakefront, we visited the Villa Melzi Gardens. The neoclassical-style complex was built between 1808 and 1810 at the wishes of Francesco Melzi d'Eril (1753-1816), and along the path through the park you can find several impressive structures around the villa, such as the Chapel and the Greenhouse of Oranges, which houses a museum collection.
Amongst the greenery of the gardens designed by Canonica and Villoresi, we had fun looking for the sculptures and decorations that adorn it, and the villa's location allows for truly unique views of Bellagio from an unusual viewpoint.
The splendour of the gardens gives a sense of peace and tranquillity and the walk along the path was really relaxing.
After enjoying some sun on a bench, we decided to return home. As we move away from the mainland by hydrofoil, I realise how the landscape of Lake Como turns more and more into a painting with its colours and shapes of nature.
