Camelia: the Symbol of Lake Como
The Camellia flowering, a spectacle of nature!
The Camellia floral genus has more than a hundred species and it is prevalently widespread in Asia . The most known and cultivated species is the Camellia Sinensis, it is the plant from which the tea is dried. The cultivation of camellias, and their hybridization, takes place in Europe from the 1700s and over the years the transformation into flowers of different shapes and colors has been spectacular. To date, their classification is based on the color, shape, number of petals and their characteristics. Thanks to Camelia is possible to produce cosmetic products: specifically, the oil obtained from the pressing of Camelia Japonica seeds has protective and emollient properties.
For years now, in the month of April, exhibitions and events have been held dedicated to the flowering of the Camellia involving the stunning Villa Carlotta and other residences of the central lake including Villa Melzi, Villa Monastero and our fabulous Palazzo Gallio (just two kilometers from Domaso) .
Its flowering enriches and distinguishes the landscape of Lake Como with its colors and its elegance, it is impossible not to notice its presence!
