Villa Carcano is located in Anzano del Parco, between Como and Lecco, surrounded by a beautiful park. The excellent position of the hill on which the villa stands is ideal for enjoying the wonderful landscape of Lake Alserio, the Grigne and the Resegone.
The Carcans were present from the early seventeenth century to Anzano, where they had developed an important agricultural activity. The marquis Alessandro Carcano, originally from Milan, in 1794 decided to build an imposing villa. The neoclassical style of the building and its romantic character were designed by Leopoldo Pollack. Subsequently, the numerous furnishing items, including newsagents, were made. a shimmering theater and a glacier, which kept the original neoclassical style.
Villa Carcano presents on the ground floor the living room where the owners spend most of their time. The entrance hall is located along the main axis along with a distribution that accesses the staircase to the north side. A room with four Ionic columns precedes the salon, the most important place in the house, marked by three aisles.
On the first floor, the noble one. there are the bedrooms of the owners and those of any guests. On the third floor there are other small rooms while the cellars are on the basement. The salon features examples of late French and Austrian baroque, with the use of neoclassical formal elements and various niches on the outside of the villa to accommodate statues.
The park is the real flagship of the villa, alternating with large planks and fresh valleys there is a large artificial lake populated with water lilies with islands, a waterway tunnel surrounded by avenues and groups of majestic trees.
Among the most interesting woody specimens are some specimens such as Celtis australis, Ginkgo biloba, Aescults hippocastanum, Chamaecyparis and cedars.
