When it comes to sport of sailing it refers usually to the sport of sailing, although propulsion sailing associates with many sports, also very different from one another (e.g. : the glider, the traditional kiting, snow-kite, etc. ).
The sport of sailing is distinguished from other sailing sport because it requires the use of boats (which may be of extremely small size, as in the case of sailboards, or extremely large, as in the case of competitions between maxi multihulls yachto). These boats must receive their propulsion exclusively by one or more sails, and must be manually operated by crews composed of one or more persons.
